DISTINGUISHED SERVICE CROSS (DSC)

The Distinguished Service Cross is awarded for distinguished command and leadership in action.
It is the highest distinguished service decoration.
The Distinguished Service Decorations recognise command and leadership in military action. They are awarded primarily to members of the Australian Defence Forces. The Distinguished Service Decorations were introduced in 1991 and replaced a number of Imperial decorations.

MEDAL FOR GALLANTRY (MG)

The Medal for Gallantry is awarded to military personnel for acts of gallantry in action in hazardous circumstances.
Heroic courage by members of a country’s armed forces in action or under fire has long been rewarded with a decoration or award.

The Distinguished Service Decorations were introduced in 1991 and replaced a number of Imperial decorations.

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE MEDAL (DSM)

The Distinguished Service Medal is awarded for distinguished leadership in action.
It is the second level of the Distinguished Service Decorations.
The Distinguished Service Decorations recognise command and leadership in military action. They are awarded primarily to members of the Australian Defence Force.

The Distinguished Service Decorations were introduced in 1991 and replaced a number of Imperial decorations.

ORDER OF AUSTRALIA MEDAL (OAM) MILITARY DIVISION

The purpose of the Order of Australia is to recognise, by national honour, those who have made outstanding contributions that benefit their communities, and ultimately our country.

In 1975 the Australian system of honours and awards was established by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

COMMENDATION FOR GALLANTRY

The Commendation for Gallantry is awarded to military personnel for acts of gallantry in action considered worthy of recognition.
Heroic courage by members of a country’s armed forces in action or under fire has long been rewarded with a decoration or award.

COMMENDATION FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE

The Commendation for Distinguished Service is awarded for the distinguished performance of duties in warlike operations to members of the Australian Defence Force.
The Distinguished Service Decorations recognise command and leadership in military action. They are awarded primarily to members of the Defence Forces.
