Video roll call of our 5RAR soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice

The purpose of the film is to honour those who served in the Vietnam War by providing factual information to address the decades of misinformation that have presented a skewed historical perspective of the war.

The vessel that carried out the most transport duties to and from Vietnam was the former aircraft carrier HMAS Sydney amusingly known as "The Vung Tau Ferry."

Documentary film about  war hero 'Bull' Allen, of our predecessor Battalion, 2/5th Australian Infantry Battalion, which has been released online.

Later recognised for his efforts in helping ensure Australian servicemen killed in Vietnam were returned home for burial—a major shift in Australian policy during the war.

Pte Evan Jones, who was in the 5RAR Intelligence Section of BHQ during the Battalion's 2nd Tour 1969-70, was always a bit of an entertainer and we have placed a couple of his recent songs above for your enjoyment.

Peter Wells (2nd Tour) has produced the above song in cooperation with singer/songwriter Bernie Steel, looking through the eyes of a returned serviceman.

History

The relinking took place on December 3, 2024 at Robertson Barracks Darwin to form the 5th/7th Battalions.

With the de-linking of 5/7 RAR on 3 December 2006 the original 5 RAR Colours were re-dedicated to the Battalion in March 2007 and the Formal presentation of new colours in June 2008
