typical Australian Army shower point

Shower Point '60s.

Canvas buckets with a metal rose at the bottom to adjust the flow of water. The water was heated to the temperature required then the bucket was lowered, filled (approx 20 litres) then raised. Standing on a raised platfom whilst showering was very important.
The procedure was:
1. open valve.
2. saturate the body.
3.close valve.
4. completely soap the body.
5 Rinse off.
absolutely no privacy!
Final note: The wearing of footwear was critical for the prevention of soil borne diseases such as hookworm, strongyloidiasis and other feisty borers.
