5RAR sentry Post with a 50 calibre Browning Machine Gun.
5RAR didn't take heavy machine guns to Vietnam as they weren't on the procurement list. The Battalion was also short on M60 machine guns and ANPRC 25 radio sets to name a couple of items.
The Americans either lent or donated the weapons so that 5RAR would have greater firepower on its perimeter.
Where possible the browning machine gun would be supported with an M60 machine gun mounted on its own tripod next to the 50.Cal.
