'Slippin' n Slidin' 1966
A Landrover from Transport Platoon negotiating its way through the muddy morass in the 5RAR lines in late June of 1966.
The heavy rains turned almost everything to slush and the building of the defences were made more difficult. Because of the little to no defences during this period, heavy reliance was placed on TAOR (Tactical Area of Responsibility) patrols and night ambushes to provide the Task Force protection from enemy rocket and mortar attacks. The three-month period June-August was one of the most physically and psychologically exhausting time for the 5RAR infantryman.
