George had served in Malaya
And made the Army his career.
Two tours of South Viet Nam
Showed he had no fear.

But his platoon walked into a minefield
On his second tour in '69.
The soldier died at 2am on March 9th
He was 29 years of age at the time.

George came from a large family.
He hailed from Newcastle New South Wales
The wheels of war had turned once more
And left a deadly trail!
