THREE OF A KIND

Kerry White has a new book out, available on Amazon: ‘Three of a kind’, the stories of three pilots from different conflicts − World War One, World War Two, Vietnam − and other reflections on aviation and aviators. ISBN: 978-0-9942814-2-5.

Three of a kind includes the stories of three military pilots – from World War One, World War Two and the Vietnam War: a newly graduated medical doctor who became a member of the initial intake at Australia’s first military flying school, and Australia’s first pilot killed in war; a ‘boy from the bush’ who signed up with the Royal Australian Air Force and flew with a Lancaster squadron in Britain; and Jim Campbell, an Army apprentice who became a helicopter pilot and was awarded a DFC.

This helicopter was actually flown by two pilots featured in the book (Jim Campbell, right in second photo, and Peter Rogers, left) during their military service. Both were awarded DFCs for actions with 5RAR in the Vietnam War.
