'Beat the Heat'

Pte Dave Bowman, who did two tours of South Vietnam with 5RAR is shown cooling off his platoon commander, Lt Dave Rowe, in the field in 1966.
During the dry season, small streams and creeks would dry up and potable water became scarce. During operations water would often be flown in in 20 litre plastic jerrycans. In this image water was obviously 'surplus to requirements'.
