1970
Warrant Officer Armitage was born in 1941 at
Guildford Western Australia.
Warrent Officer Armitage joined the Army
in 1958 and after completing basic and
Infantry Corps Training he was posted to
4RAR in 1959.
In 1960 Warrant Officer Armitage was posted to
2RAR in Sydney, Australia
1961 and 1962 saw him serve with with the
Battalion in Malaya.
In 1963 Warrant Officer Armitage was
posted to 1RAR then stationed at Gallipoli
Barracks Sydney NSW.
1965 saw the formation of 5RAR and he was
posted to the Battalion.
During the Battalion's first tour in the
Republic of South Vietnam May 1966 - May 67,
Warrant Officer Armitage served as Platoon
Seargant and acting Platoon Commander.
In 1968, Warrant Officer Armitage was
posted to Jungle Warefare Centre, Canungara,
as CSM Demonstration Company.
in 1969 he rejoined 5RAR for its second
tour in the Republic of South Vietnam, this
time as CSM A Company.
February 1970 saw the Battalion return to
Australia and Warrant Officer Armitage
was appointed RSM of the Battalion until July 1970.
1971 he was CSM A Company
1972 was
CSM Support Company.
1973 posted to 5 Cadet Brigade as
Instructor.
1975 Warrant Officer Armitage was posted
the Western Australia University Regiment as
RSM.
1978 Warrant Officer Armitage was
discharged from the army after 20 years
valuable service to the Royal Australian
Regiment and Australia.
