Two Mates, 15th June 1969

Anthony Waring, (left) with his mate Allan English. Both men served with 10 Platoon, D Company during the battalion's second tour.
This photograph was taken on the morning of 15th June, 1969 as the men were waiting for the Armoured Personnel Carriers from 3 Cavalry Regiment to arrive to commence Operation Esso in the Dat Do region.
In the early hours of the next day, during a heavy contact, Anthony Waring was hit by an enemy RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade) and died of wounds. Allan was also wounded in this action.
